		<description>I learned just how painful it was to kick Facebook when I went cold turkey, in preparation of deleting my account entirely. (It still hasn't quite happened; I want to get my photos out first, which I haven't gotten around to doing.) It had become a de facto address book for me, plus a key means of communicating (messages, wall posts), organizing (groups, events), and keeping up with my friends (stalking). I had completely overlooked how much of my social life was held hostage by proprietary software, where I didn't even have control of my own data. Never again!</description>
